O caso aconteceu no estado norte-americano do Arizona no fim dos anos 70. Um tribunal de clérigos considerou o comportamento de um padre como "quase satânico", e denunciou-o ao Vaticano. Mas, só mais de uma década depois é que o Cardeal Joseph Ratzinger, então responsável por lidar com os casos de abuso sexual, o retirou da igreja.
